Kamikochi has year-round private car restrictions and private cars are not permitted to enter the area.
Private cars (including rental cars and motorcycles) are prohibited from entering beyond Kama Tunnel, so please use the shuttle bus or taxi from Sawando Parking Lot if coming from Matsumoto City, or Hirayu Akandana Parking Lot if coming from Takayama City.
Kamikochi is closed to traffic at night, and public transportation such as taxis and buses are also not allowed to enter the area (closing time 19:00-05:00).
As there are no street lights within Kamikochi, we recommend that guests arrive at the hotel no later than 5:00 PM.
