About accommodation

  • What is the room capacity?

    The occupancy capacity of each room is as follows: View Bath Twin Room 1-2 guests, Superior Twin Room 1-2 guests, Premium Theater Room 2-3 guests, Deluxe Theater Room A 2-4 guests, Deluxe Theater Room B 2-3 guests, Japanese-Western Theater Room 2-4 guests, and Luxury Theater Room 2-4 guests.
  • Can I stay with my children? If so, please let me know the price.

    You can stay overnight.
    Children of elementary school age or younger will be charged the child rate.
    The rate for elementary school children is 30,800 yen (tax included) per person per night. Dinner will be served as a "junior course."
    The fee for preschool children is 22,000 yen (tax included) per person per night. A "kids course" will be prepared for dinner.
    For preschool children who do not require meals or bedding (including beds and futons), a facility usage fee of 3,300 yen (tax included) will be charged. However, for children under the age of 3 who do not require meals or bedding, the facility usage fee is free.
  • Is the mobile phone signal OK?

    NTT DoCoMo, au, and SoftBank are available. All rooms in the hotel are equipped with wireless LAN (Wi-Fi), so please rest assured.
  • Is Wi-Fi available?

    Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and in all guest rooms. There is no wired LAN.
  • What is the view from the room? What kind of view can you see?

    All rooms face the Azusa River, so you can enjoy beautiful views of the river and Mt. Ropyakusan from any room.
  • Do you have non-smoking rooms?

    All hotel rooms are non-smoking. Guests who wish to smoke should use the smoking area on the second floor.
  • Are there air conditioners in the rooms?

    The rooms will be renovated in 2024 and all rooms will be air-conditioned.
  • What should I wear in the hotel? Are pajamas provided in the rooms?

    Separate top and bottom loungewear is provided in the rooms instead of pajamas.
    You may wear loungewear when going to the large public bath or relaxing in the lobby, however, please refrain from wearing loungewear when entering the restaurant.
    Guests are welcome to enter the restaurant in casual attire and slippers provided in their rooms.
  • What is the approximate cost of accommodation?

    Accommodation rates start from 40,850 yen (including service tax) per person for one night with two meals.
  • Can I use credit cards or electronic money?

    Yes, you can.
    Card companies that can be used include VISA, MASTER, AMEX, DINERS, JCB, UFJ, NICOS, DC, UC, SAISON, JAL, and UnionPay.
    You can also use iD, nanaco, WAON, Suica and other electronic money. QR payments such as PayPay can be used at lunch, in the lounge and at the shop. They cannot be used for lodging fees.
  • Is there a cancellation fee if I cancel my reservation?

    If you cancel your accommodation reservation, the following cancellation fees will be charged.

    ・8 to 14 days before the stay: 10% of the accommodation fee
    ・4 to 7 days before the stay: 20% of the accommodation fee
    ・2-3 days before the stay: 30% of the accommodation fee
    ・Notification the day before: 50% of the accommodation fee
    ・If you contact us on the day: 100% of the accommodation fee
    ・If you do not use the facility without contacting us: 100% of the accommodation fee
  • What time is check-in and check-out?

    Check-in is from 2:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM.
  • Can I extend my stay?

    This is possible for a fee, depending on the reservation situation on the day. Please contact us in advance as we may not be able to accommodate your request due to the hotel's circumstances, such as peak season.
  • Can I leave my luggage before check-in or after check-out?

    Yes, we will keep your luggage for you. We will keep your luggage for the day at the front desk from 6:00 AM. We will also keep your luggage after check-out free of charge.
  • Can I send my luggage to the hotel in advance by courier?

    Please send it to the address below. Due to the nature of the location, we only deliver once a day, so please send it well in advance so that it arrives the day before.

  • Are there rooms with open-air baths?

    There are no rooms with open-air baths.
    However, we do have a view bath twin room with a bathtub located by the window facing the Azusa River. Please feel free to use it.
  • Are wheelchairs available?

    Yes, we do have some available. They are for indoor use only, so please use them within the building. As the number of units is limited, please contact the hotel in advance if you require one.
  • Are there private baths?

    The two private baths in the building also use natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source. The price is 3,300 yen (tax included) per hour, and the maximum capacity is two people.
    Reservations are required, so please let us know when you make your accommodation reservation or upon arrival.
  • Is it okay to bring pets?

    You cannot take them with you.
    Kamikochi is located in a national park that is particularly sensitive to the environment, and so it is prohibited to bring animals, with the exception of service dogs. Please refrain from bringing pets.

About the food and restaurants

  • Is the meal at a restaurant?
    Or is it in-room dining?

    Both dinner and breakfast are served at the 1st floor restaurant, La Riviere.
  • Is there a dress code for the restaurants and bar lounges?

    We do not have a specific dress code, but we ask that you refrain from entering the store wearing pajamas provided in your guest room.
  • What time does dinner start?

    The restaurant is open from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM, but this may change depending on the day. Please inquire at the front desk when you check in.
  • What does the food consist of?

    Dinner is a full course French cuisine. For consecutive nights, the second night's dinner will be a Japanese-style creative course meal called "French Japonaise". A different menu will be prepared from the third night onwards. Breakfast is a buffet with an assortment of Japanese and Western dishes.
  • Is the food only French? Or do they serve Japanese food?

    There is no Japanese menu available.
    For guests staying for two nights or more, we would like you to enjoy a different dish every day.
    We offer "French Japonaise", French cuisine with a Japanese twist.
  • Can I have dinner and breakfast at the hotel even if I'm not a guest?

    Dinner is only available to overnight guests.
    Breakfast is available by reservation only, but we may be unable to accommodate your request depending on the room reservation situation. Please contact us in advance.
  • I have a food allergy. Can you accommodate?

    We can accommodate guests with food allergies only. Please contact us using the Allergy Inquiry Form at least 7 days prior to your stay.
    However, please understand that we may not be able to accommodate requests in cases such as severe allergies or major changes to the menu.
    In addition, we cannot accommodate menu changes based on preferences other than food allergies, so we ask for your understanding in advance.
  • Do you serve local wine and sake at your restaurant?

    You can eat it.
    Our sommelier will select local Shinshu wine or sake to match your meal and your preferences.
  • Is there a menu for children?

    For children staying at our accommodation, we offer a "Junior Course" for elementary school students and a "Kids Course" for preschoolers.
    If you have a child sleeping with you, we can provide a "Kids Course" for 12,100 yen (tax included) if you make a reservation in advance.
  • Is room service available?

    There is no room service.
  • Can I have lunch? Can I make a reservation in advance?

    Yes, you can.
    Opening hours are 11:30 AM-2:00 PM (last order at 1:20 PM).
    We also accept advance reservations, so please contact us at +81-263-95-2121.
  • Do you have a plan that includes lunch?

    We offer a special plan that includes a bath and lunch course. Reservations must be made by 12:00 the day before.
  • Do you have a bar?

    Newly built in 2024, it is available exclusively for guests on the second floor. Enjoy the quiet time of Kamikochi.

About the large bath and hot spring

  • Can I use the bath 24 hours a day?

    Not available 24 hours a day.
    The hotel's large public bath and open-air bath are available from 3:00 PM to Midnight and from 5:00 AM to 10:30 AM the following morning.
  • Are there open-air baths and saunas?

    There are separate open-air baths for men and women in the large communal bath area. There is no sauna.
  • What kind of hot spring is the hotel's hot spring? Is it a flowing hot spring?

    This is a natural hot spring with water flowing directly from the source.
    The spring water is a mildly alkaline simple spring, gentle on the skin. This spring water is supplied not only to the indoor and outdoor baths, but also to the private baths and guest room baths. As it is said to be good for relieving fatigue, it is especially effective in soothing the tiredness from walks and hikes.
  • Can I drink the hot spring water?

    Please refrain from drinking as it is not suitable for drinking.
  • Are there private baths?

  • I have a tattoo. Can I enter the hot springs?

    Guests with tattoos are not permitted to use the large communal bath or open-air bath.
    All private baths and guest rooms are also equipped with natural hot spring water. Please feel free to use them.
  • Can I take a bath even if I'm just visiting for the day?

    Yes, you can.
    The hours of operation are 11:00 AM-1:00 PM (last entry at 12:30 PM). The fee is 2,220 yen (tax included) for adults, 1,100 yen (tax included) for elementary school students, and free for preschoolers. There are also value sets with lunch available.

About the Facilities

  • Is the building barrier-free?

    The building is not completely barrier-free.
    However, there are elevators on each floor, and there are no steps from the entrance to the guest rooms, so you can move around smoothly. There is also a private bath and a wheelchair accessible restroom on the third floor. If you request, we can provide you with a room nearby.
  • Is there a shop? What time does it open?

    The shop is open from 7:30 to 6:00 PM.
    In addition to selling Shinshu souvenirs and original hotel goods, we also handle home delivery services.
  • Are there coin laundry or laundry services available in the hotel?

    The hotel provides washing and drying machines for guests' exclusive use.
    Laundry service is not available.
  • Are there any playgrounds or entertainment facilities?

    The hotel does not have any games or entertainment facilities.
    Enjoy delicious meals and natural hot springs, and enjoy a holiday surrounded by nature that you can't experience in your everyday life.

Transportation and access

  • Can I go to Kamikochi by car?

    You cannot come.
    Kamikochi has year-round restrictions on private vehicles, and it is prohibited to drive your car into the area. If you are driving your car, please park at Sawando Parking Lot or Hirayu Akandana Parking Lot, then take a bus or taxi to get to the area.
  • Where is the nearest bus stop to the hotel?

    The bus stop is in front of the Imperial Hotel.
    It takes about 10 minutes on foot from the bus stop to the hotel. The promenade is paved, but it is an outdoor road and is not suitable for carrying large suitcases.
  • I think I'll be arriving late...

    The hotel's final check-in time is 5:00 PM. If you are planning to arrive after 5:00 PM due to traffic or other reasons, please be sure to contact the hotel.
    The Kamikochi Park Line is closed to vehicles at night, so you cannot enter Kamikochi Park between 7:00 PM. (8:00 PM. in summer) and 5:00 AM. the following morning.
  • Can you provide pick-up at the hotel?

    Sorry, we do not provide hotel pick-up.
    Our hotel is located on the Kamikochi promenade, so picking up or dropping off guests or transporting luggage is prohibited.
  • Can I take a taxi to the front of the hotel?

    Basically, you can't get in.
    The road from the bus stop in front of the Imperial Hotel to the hotel is a pedestrian walkway, so picking up or dropping off guests or carrying luggage on it is prohibited.
    In the case of physically challenged guests or in bad weather, we may be able to request a taxi, provided that the taxi does not enter the park between 9:00 and 15:00, when the park is busiest. Please contact the hotel for more details.

Others

  • When is the greenery of Kamikochi at its most beautiful?

    In Kamikochi, the plants and trees begin to sprout around the end of Golden Week.
    The pale green of the trees is at its best until early June, when the variety of flowers decorating the walking paths is at its greatest.
    From early June to July, the greenery becomes even more vibrant, and Kamikochi enters its freshest season of the year.
    In August, the dark green leaves provide cool shade and block out the strong summer sun.
  • When is the best time to see the autumn leaves in Kamikochi?

    It is mid to late October. In Kamikochi, the yellow leaves of the larch trees are particularly beautiful.
    The Hotaka mountain range surrounding Kamikochi turns red in autumn from late September to early October, attracting many climbers.
    In mid-October, the autumn leaves of the mountains seen from Kamikochi are at their most vibrant, creating a stunning contrast with the blue sky.
    In late October, you can enjoy the quiet atmosphere of late autumn.
  • What kind of clothes should I wear to Kamikochi?

    Kamikochi is a place where the temperature changes greatly throughout the day, so we recommend wearing layers of clothing that are easy to move in and can adapt to changes in temperature.
    As most of the walking paths are unpaved, we recommend wearing walking shoes or trekking shoes which are easy to walk in and do not tire your feet.
    Don't forget to bring seasonal accessories such as hats and cold weather gear.
  • I heard the stars are beautiful, but when is the best time to see them?

    In Kamikochi, you can see beautiful starry skies in every season throughout the year, but the best time to observe the stars is around a bright new moon.
    The hotel holds a "Stargazing Event" event two days a month. All guests staying at the hotel can participate free of charge.
  • Are there any convenience stores or bank ATMs nearby?

    Neither of these are available in Kamikochi.
    There are several daily necessities you will need during your stay or strolling around the hotel, including those available at the hotel shop.
    Please note that there are no financial institutions or ATMs in Kamikochi where you can withdraw cash. *Kamikochi Post Office only handles mail.
